This was an organizational decision by the Nationals. Harper has been nursing a sore left thumb that he jammed during a game on Sunday, June 12. It caused him to miss four games. While he will sit out the derby, Harper will still start the All-Star Game. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 Tuesday night.
