Johnson also had LaRoche and Span out of the lineup against Phillies left-hander John Lannan earlier this week. Johnson has talked about wanting to get some of his bench players more playing time, and he apparently sees opposing teams' left-handed starters as a chance to cycle in some of his right-handed bench bats.
Jeff Kobernus will start in center field and lead off today, while Chris Marrero will play first and hit sixth.
