Orioles get busy in third inning (O's win 10-2)

The Orioles managed to accomplish a lot tonight in the bottom of the third inning.

Let's start with Manny Machado snapping an 0-for-17 skid with an RBI double into the right field corner that scored Rule 5 pick Joey Rickard, who reached on a fielder's choice.

Rickard was flying around the bases and scored standing up to tie the game 2-2.

Let's continue with Chris Davis, who followed with a two-run shot to right-center field to give the Orioles a 4-2 lead.

Davis dropped the bat and started to jog up the first base line. He knew his seventh home run was in the bag - or at least the seats.

Let's continue with Mark Trumbo, who deposited a John Danks pitch into the back of the Orioles' bullpen for a 5-2 lead.

It's the third time this season that the Orioles have gone back-to-back. It's also the first RBI for Trumbo at home, the first 17 coming on the road, along with his five home runs.

Trumbo's 11-game hitting streak ended last night. He's started a new one.

Tyler Wilson has retired seven of eight batters since Todd Frazier's two-run homer in the first gave the White Sox a 2-0 lead.

Wilson got ahead of Frazier 0-2 with four-seam fastballs. He missed low with a curveball and hung the next one.

Jose Abreu started the rally by reaching on an infield hit with two outs. Abreu was batting .190 before tonight.

The Orioles got a run back in the bottom of the first on Adam Jones' two-out double to center field, the ball one-hopping the fence. It was notable because Machado scored and because Jones was 1-for-33 versus Danks.

Davis was thrown out at the plate to end the inning. Replays showed that he may have avoided the tag, but the Orioles didn't challenge. Much closer than it appeared live.

Update: Wilson went 4 2/3 innings and allowed two runs and four hits, with one walk, three strikeouts, a home run and a hit batter. He threw 91 pitches, 61 for strikes.

Mychal Givens struck out Frazier to end the fifth and leave the bases loaded.

Update II: J.J. Hardy lined a double off the left field fence leading off the sixth and scored on second baseman Brett Lawrie's error to give the Orioles a 6-2 lead.

Machado has a career-high five RBIs after his grand slam in the sixth extended the lead to 10-2. Machado's other career slam came on June 1, 2014 off the Astros' Scott Feldman.

Update III: The Orioles braved the elements and defeated the White Sox 10-2 at Camden Yards.

Givens gets the win, as the Orioles improve to 13-8.

Hyun Soo Kim delivered a pinch-hit single, his sixth hit in 11 at-bats. Mark Trumbo moved from DH to first base and Pedro Alvarez played third base in the final inning.
