So the Orioles enter tonight's game with a six-game win streak at Fenway Park. They last won seven in a row there - well, actually never.
Here is note tonight via Twitter from Stats LLC:
The #Orioles haven't won 7 straight in Boston since the St. Louis Browns beat the Boston Americans at Huntington Ave. Grounds in 1906. #MLB
Neither Roch or I covered that Huntington Avenue game.
Here is a note tonight from the Orioles media notes:
The Orioles have won six straight games at Fenway Park dating back to September 20, 2011, tying the franchise record for most consecutive wins. It is the fourth time the Birds have won six straight at Fenway Park. The Birds also won six straight on Yawkey Way from July 31, 1992-June 12, 1993, June 28, 1980-April 13, 1981 and August 12, 1965-June 19, 1966.
So a seventh win in a row would be record setting for the Orioles tonight.
The pitching matchup may not favor the Orioles. Boston starter Josh Beckett has gone seven innings each in his past four starts and is 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA in that time. O's starter Wei-Yin Chen, meanwhile, has an ERA of 7.31 over his past three starts, raising his ERA on the year from 2.45 to 3.75 entering this game.
