Nationals finalize minor league staff for 2016

The Nationals officially released their minor league coaching staffs and coordinators for 2016 this afternoon, with former bench coach Randy Knorr named senior adviser to general manager Mike Rizzo. Knorr had been the bench coach the past four seasons and is highly regarded in the organization, since he also managed in the system from 2005-2011.

Remaining on staff was Brian Daubach, who moves to hitting coach at Triple-A Syracuse. He was the Double-A Harrisburg manager last season. Matt LeCroy, most recently the bullpen coach for the major league team, returns to the system as the new manager of Harrisburg. Brian Rupp goes from high Single-A Potomac to Harrisburg in the same role as hitting coach.

Luis Ordaz moves from low Single-A Hagerstown to hitting coach at Potomac. Amaury Garcia takes over as hitting coach for the Suns. R.J. Guyer is the strength and conditioning coach for Hagerstown. Mark Harris is the hitting coach for short-season Single-A Auburn.

Jerad Head becomes he new manager of Auburn after Gary Cathcart moved to the Marlins as outfield and baserunning coordinator. Head spent eight seasons in the minors and played for nine teams, including Harrisburg and Syracuse to wrap up his playing career.

Josh Johnson becomes a coach after spending 12 years in the Nationals minor league system. Johnson will be the manager for the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Nationals. Michael Barrett moves to catching coordinator full-time. He managed the GCL Nationals last season.
