O's game blog: Dylan Bundy on the mound in Oakland series finale

The Orioles need a win at Camden Yards over Oakland tonight to avoid getting swept in a three-game series. The Orioles (41-104) are trying to snap a six-game losing streak and avoid being swept in a series of three or more games for the 17th time in 2018.

Oakland beat the Orioles 3-2 Tuesday night and won 10-0 last night, pitching the 35th one-hitter in A's history, which dates to 1968. It was the fewest hits by the Orioles since they were no-hit on Aug. 12, 2015 at Seattle by Hisashi Iwakuma.

Oakland (89-57) is three games behind Houston for the American League West lead and one game behind the New York Yankees for the first AL wild card. Oakland has a comfortable 8 1/2-game lead over Tampa Bay for the second AL wild card spot.

The A's have won six in a row and eight of nine games. Oakland is now 10-1-2 in its last 13 series and 20-2-3 in the last 25. Oakland has the best one-run record in the majors at 28-12 (.700) and has the best record in the majors since the All-Star break at 34-15 (.694).

Right-hander Dylan Bundy (7-14, 5.58 ERA) will make his 28th start tonight and is looking for his first win since July 29. Bundy has an ERA of 10.67, has yielded 10 homers in his last six starts and hasn't thrown more than 5 1/3 innings in any of those games. In 11 starts since July 6, he is 1-7 with an ERA of 8.83, allowing 19 homers in 54 innings. Bundy's ERA has risen nearly two runs since it was 3.75 at the end of June.

Oakland reinstated left-handed pitcher Brett Anderson from the disabled list to start tonight. Anderson was 3-4 with a 4.02 ERA and .276 opponent batting average in 13 starts when he was placed on the DL on Aug. 28 with a strained left forearm. It was his second stint on the DL this year as he was also out from May 19 to July 7 with a strained right shoulder.

He is 2-2 with a 2.83 ERA and .221 opponent average in seven starts since the All-Star break after going 1-2 with a 6.08 ERA and .356 opponent average in six starts before the break. Anderson has walked just 12 batters in 65 innings and his average of 1.66 walks per nine innings is the lowest of his career.

Minor league honors: The Carolina League announced that Single-A Frederick Keys infielder Wilson Garcia and outfielder Ryan McKenna were selected to the Carolina League's Postseason All-Star team. It marks the first time Garcia has been selected to a midseason or postseason all-star roster in his career. McKenna was named to a postseason all-star team for the first time after being named a midseason all-star in the Carolina League.

Garcia, 24, turned in his best professional season, batting .295/.328/.521 to go with an .849 OPS. Selected as the first baseman on this year's postseason squad, Garcia hit 23 home runs to go with 70 RBIs, 24 doubles, 60 runs scored and 122 hits in 108 games. He led the league in total bases (215), placed second in home runs and slugging percentage (.521), and ranked third in hitting and extra-base hits (47).

McKenna, 21, took the Carolina League by storm before a promotion to the Double-A Bowie Baysox on June 21. With Frederick, the center fielder hit .377/.467/.556 with a 1.023 OPS in 67 games.

He finished with 97 hits and added eight home runs, 37 RBIs, two triples, 18 doubles, 60 runs scored, five stolen bases and 143 total bases. At the time of his call-up, McKenna led all of minor league baseball in hits and OBP while ranking second in batting average, runs and tied for fifth in total bases. He finished the season with a .315/.410/.457 batting line and an .868 OPS with 11 home runs, 53 RBIs, four triples, 26 doubles and 95 runs scored in 127 games for the Keys and Baysox.
