Orioles unveil rendering showcasing Camden Yards renovations

Today, the Orioles unveiled the first rendering showcasing the improvements taking place at Oriole Park at Camden Yards for 2012. The renovations, which are part of a multi-year plan, represent the club's continued commitment to honor the proud history of the franchise, improve the design aesthetic and functionality of the park, and enrich the overall fan experience. "This most recent phase of upgrades continues to tell a story about one of the most iconic parks in baseball history," said Orioles Director of Communications Greg Bader. "Oriole Park at Camden Yards was the genesis of an evolution in how sports fans, particularly baseball fans, rediscovered how they could experience a game. It was important that we allow all fans the opportunity to experience these renovations, and we feel these improvements will ensure that Camden Yards remains second to none among professional sports facilities." Renovations showcased in the rendering include: * Roof Deck: The new Roof Deck located on top of the batter's eye wall in center field, will showcase the view of downtown Baltimore and Eutaw Street, as well as provide a unique vantage point to watch the game. This new area will feature outdoor deck seating, a full-service bar and seats facing the field. Any fan with a game ticket will be able to access this area to watch all or a portion of the game. This area was previously not open to fans. * Flag Court: The out-of-town scoreboard on the right field wall has been modified to reduce the height of the wall and improve views of the game from the Flag Court and Eutaw Street. Food service and retail in the Warehouse has also been renovated to take advantage of this improved visual connection to the playing field. * Legends Sculptures: Larger than life bronze sculptures of the six greatest Orioles of all-time - Frank Robinson, Brooks Robinson, Earl Weaver, Jim Palmer, Eddie Murray and Cal Ripken Jr. - will be unveiled throughout the 2012 season. The sculptures will range from seven to eight feet in scale and weigh between 600 and 1,500 pounds each. Note: The sculptures showcased in the rendering are not necessarily the actual poses in which the players will be depicted. * Bullpen Picnic Grove: The six Orioles sculptures will be located in an improved bullpen picnic grove, which has received significant upgrades and additional landscaping as part of a plan to turn the area into a ballpark oasis. This area will also be accessible on non-gamedays, allowing visitors the opportunity to experience this unique space year-round.
