Familiar foes meet in AFC Divisional game on Saturday

Posted January 5, 2009 by Pete McElroy

The Tennessee Titans have a rematch with the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday with the winner advancing to the AFC Championship game.

The last time the Titans were in this same position, the top-seed in the AFC, in 2000, Baltimore came into LP Field and knocked off Tennessee 24-10 on their way to the Super Bowl, which coincidentally will be played in Tampa.

What's Our Name? Defense!

Posted January 4, 2009 by Scott Garceau

The Cardinals advanced by Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Bolden making big plays; Brian Westbrook broke the Vikings back; and Darren Sproles stepped in for "LT" and rolled up 328 total yards as the Chargers did the Colts in on Saturday.

The Ravens lack playmakers like those above--on offense that is--but they have Ed Reed who will go down as one of the greatest playmakers in NFL history.

Protecting the ball will be Dolphins' main concern against Ravens

Posted January 2, 2009 by Pete McElroy

The Other Side of the Ball
Sunday's Wild Card playoff game between the Dolphins and Ravens figures to be a defensive battle. Miami tied the NFL record for fewest giveaways in a 16-game season with just 13 turnovers and Baltimore led the league with 34 takeaways.

Both teams rank in the Top 9 in points allowed; Baltimore gives up 15.2 and Miami 19.8, good for third and ninth respectively. Clearly, protecting the ball will be a huge factor come Sunday.

Ravens, Marley & Me

Posted January 1, 2009 by Scott Garceau

No whining this week from you Raven fans who feel your team always gets the short end of the respect stick.

Your Baltimore Ravens, the #6 and last seed to qualify for the AFC playoffs, are playing the #3 seed on the road, a team that has won nine of their last ten games, and the wise men (aka odds makers) list your Ravens as 3-point favorites!

Dolphins look to avenge Week 7 loss to Ravens

Posted December 31, 2008 by Pete McElroy

The Miami Dolphins were 2-3 heading into their Week 7 showdown with the Baltimore Ravens at Dolphin Stadium. Another loss would remind Dolfans of the 2007 season (where they went 1-15) and that this year was better, but not by much.

Miami was using the new "Wildcat" formation that was giving defensive coordinators fits, but the Ravens weren't fooled.
