In '08 it's Birdland not Bronxville
It was nice to hear Oriole fans louder than Yankee fans for once at the Yard. That's what winning does to this town. I hope it continues.
All I could think of last night as the Orioles took Game 1 of the series with the Yankees was the 1976 film Bad News Bears when Tanner Boyle says, "Hey Yankee take your apology and your trophy and shove it straight up your....."
It appears the new Orioles don't care about the Yankees and all their "trophies". The Birds weren't intimidated. They went out and won a game. Not just any game, mind you. This was a battle for first place in the AL East and the Orioles rose to the occasion with a 7-run 6th inning.
Nick Markakis could be an All Star this year. Besides the fact he's on a tear at the plate, he's playing unbelievable defense. The 24-year old gunned down Bobby Abreu from right field in the 4th. It was a beautiful throw and the next inning when Yankees third base coach Bobby Meacham had a chance to send Robinson Cano home on a Melky Cabrera double to right---he chose not to. That's the respect Nick Markakis is earning in this league.

Amber, couldn't agree more. I was watching the game and was pleasantly suprised that the O's were getting bigger cheers than the Yanks. Oh...Nick is having a great couple of weeks - but don't forget to give Luke his props.
