Connecting the dots
Orioles manager Dave Trembley will update the Adam Jones situation after tonight's game. The media is left hanging a little while longer.
Meanwhile, team president Andy MacPhail and David Stockstill, director of player development, are waiting to meet with Double-A Bowie outfielder Luis Montanez after his game.
Just give the guy a number and be done with it.

Here's my two cents for the blog's name:
"Roch On".
Roch, what's your take on the O's bringing up Waters?
Roch,
Why not go with Rock Around the Clock? As I understand it, nobody can copyright a title. Yes?
I think Sarfate should be another lesson for us. I dont blame management because injuries and ineffectual pitching has made this an emergency situation but when a guy starts to have success in one position, dont assume it means he is ready for a bigger challenge. Let them gain confidence. Goal should be to set players up to succeed and not find their peter principle level. Let guys settle in and have success. This is why I would love for Wieters and the gang at Bowie to stay together and win the AA championship. Eventually everyone has to be challenged and stretched out to find their limits or heights but let them gain confidence, expeerience, learn their craft and feel good about themselves first and THEN challenge them. Liz never got settled and confident at AAA before being rushed up. Penn has never advanced from his early callup. Loewen might have been a victim of his major league contract. Other than injuries and pennant races, there are few good reasons to rush someone up before they get setttled in and confident.
predictable start by sarfate. i'm not sure why a long man who wasn't able to hold down that spot effectively becomes the starter whereas JJ is left to be the irrelevant (at this point) 8th inning setup guy. just goes to show that we are still a ways from where we need to be.
Lou's conversation with AM and Stockstill, "Would you like to remain in contention for the AA triple crown or get called up to the ML?"
"I'd rather play on the big league club."
"Great, just checking. Get on a plane in the morning."
"Thanks fellas."
Next.
No more Sarfarte as a starter.
Hayden Penn should be with the team next week. Release F. Cabrera to open up a spot.
Ray,
Yes, I believe that Matt Weiters will be a productive major league player and probably an impact one.
If you are trying to compare a position player prospect with a pitching prospect, I would disagree. The casualty rate among pitchers is at least twice what it is among position players.
Despite any difference in opinion we might have about whether it is wise to trade prospects for proven performers, isn’t it wonderful that we have enough talent in our system to even discuss making these kinds of moves.
Aww man. You guys went with Typekey? Guess I'll be signed out every other post.
I watched Jake Arrieta start for team USA in an exhibition game against Canada tonight. He struck out two in the 1st inning and hit 96 on the gun. The wheels kind of came off in the 3rd when he gave up 3 runs. He bounced his curve several times and eventually Team Canada stopped swinging at it. His mechanics looked good and he could be the real deal.
Too bad he doesn't play SS. He'd have gotten a few chances by now.
Whoever predcted 3 innings for Sarfate might have the over.
Where's Matt Rilley when you need him?
BTW - I saw Scott Erickson on HGTV showing off his house recently.
Fred Manfra and Joe Angel don't like the name "School of Roch." They like "Roch and ball" (think Rock and Roll) or "Roch and hardball." While, I don't like either of their suggestions, I'm not too keen on the new name either. But glad to see you've landed on your feet somewhere.
Castro is one of the few guys on a major league roster that can bunt. With a guy on first and no outs that should be automatic. Then you have a runner in scoring position when Roberts singles. The guy hits below the Mendoza line for crissakes! You expecting a two run dinger from him??!!
its good to see montanez get a chance to prove himself. also whats the deal with our minor league pitchers never going more than 6 innings. tillman was unbelievable and he got yanked after 6. was his pitch count real high?
