The media workroom isn't even half filled, but that's because it holds the same amount of seats as you find at Camden Yards. And yes, there's a joke in there somewhere.

It wouldn't surprise me if catcher Ramon Hernandez is dealt this week, though the Orioles are expected to be busier after the meetings.

It's possible that they won't have to eat as much of his contract as originally anticipated, because one of the interested teams also is looking to dump salary. In return, the Orioles would get a utility-type player who could move from the infield to the outfield.

The Cincinnati Reds and Houston Astros are two teams looking for a catcher.

So if I may read between the lines, what your saying is that the Reds get Ramon, and we welcome back Jerry Hairston, Jr. to the mix?

Throw us a bone Roch, who are you talking about? Encarnacion?

Interesting. I would prefer the Reds since we don't see them that often plus I think they have better utility players than the Astros. Yes, there's a joke in there somewhere.

But I do hope that we can deal Ramon away and forget about him. And then sign a backup for Wieters. Quiroz is okay but he's just serviceable for the Minors.

Whew! I was worried that you would go to Vegas and all you would bring us back was a t-shirt that said:

"My blogger went to Veagas and all he brought us back was a Rule 5 draft pick"

I know that AM is a more deliberate guy but after 11 years I get a bit impatient.

Have a good time and don't hit on 17.

What does this mean? Does this mean you know of the exact player that might come back? Or that you know that Andy is asking for a utility player? And how do you know the Orioles are expected to be busier after the meetings? Is that just based on track record?

Subtle title Roch.

I read a rumor about the Orioles having interest in Jerry Hairston --I would certainly prefer him over Fahey as a utility guy and he does play a pretty good second base if Roberts gets traded(which I hope he doesn't)

yesssss.

So that would be Ty Wigginton?

You'll be hard-pressed to name another player with so much talent who gives so little effort.

May I suggest Ramon Hernandez for Miguel Tejada. There is a joke in there somewhere.

I wish the O's would start playing that song, "YOU DROPPED A BOMB ON ME" by the GAP Band when the O's would hit that homerun at the Yard. That is a good song. I love that song.

Ryan Freel anyone? :)

I happy to hear we're about to do something, and that something is trade Ramon, but I don't know how excited I could be about Alex Gonzalez who seems to be the only salaried player on either team who'd be a utility man with us (I don't think Ty Wigginton can play the outfield). I'd hope we'd be getting something besides him, he doesn't look like the answer at short. Jerry Hairston could move between the infield and the outfield pretty cheaply. What about Bronson Arroyo, he's about to make 9 million and the Reds have plenty of young pitching to replace him. He's been serviceable since he got there.

Roch--

That "utility-type player who could move from the infield to the outfield." wouldn't be named Jay Bruce would he? :-)

I hope the O's realized they made the right choice in keeping Roberts over Jerry Hairston Jr. Hoping they don't try to do a little revisionist history this offseason and see what it'd be like the other way around.

I'm thinking that you are a natural for the Sunday night "Rehab" party at the Hard Rock. We can all watch online as you entertain us.

my bet is that roch is referring to matsui or freel. wigginton is a possibility . . . but he is not all that expensive and he has an arguably useful bat. 10 million on matsui and 4.35 million on wigginton.

XD23 said:

Hairston is a Free Agent. Encarnacion is one of the guys the Reds won't trade because of his youth and hitting abilities. Wiggington hits well so he wouldn't be a salary dump.

I'm going with Ryan Freel. He can play 2B, 3B and OF well. Even some games at SS.

Chuck said:

I would take Freel on the O's. He can play many positions and I like the way he plays the game.

Doug said:

Hairston, jr. is a free agent so it's not him
