Tavarez to pitch Tuesday and other notes
A few notes after meeting with manager Manny Acta after today's 3-0 loss to the Tigers.
He wanted to clarify that newly signed RHP Julian Tavarez will not pitch on Monday against the Marlins in Jupiter, Fla.
He is here on a tourist Visa, not a work visa. With that being the case, Tavarez can't pitch in a Grapefruit League game until he gets his work Visa, which is waiting for him in the Dominican Republic.
Tavarez will pitch on Tuesday in an intersquad game here in Viera.
Jesus Flores has only played in three games this spring due to mild strain in his right elbow. According to Acta, Flores will start swinging a bat on Tuesday and on the 23rd, he'll be evaluated to see if he can play catcher.
Shawn Hill, who experienced right forearm soreness on February 25th, will throw one inning or 25 pitches on Monday against the Marlins.
Jordan Zimmermann will follow Hill and go 4 to 5 innings or 75 pitches.
