Young stunned at Bowden's resignation
First baseman Dmitri Young, who hasn't spoken to the media until today, is surprised at his former GM's decision.
"I was shocked," Dmitri Young said. "What Jim did for me over back in 1998 when I was traded over to the Reds, he was the only person who gave me another chance and I thank him for that an I know he's going to land back on his feet somewhere. He's too smart of a mind and he knows baseball. He's going to be fine and I wish him the best."
"I think he did a great job, unfortunately last year we were riddled by so many injuries it showed in our record. Think about the guys that were hurt. If we weren't hurt last year we wouldn't be talking about him resigning, we'd be talking about him in a different light."
"He said he felt he was being a distraction and he thought it was in the best interest of the team so he put the team first instead of himself and that speaks volumes about his character."
