Draft preview
On the eve of one of the biggest days in franchise history, the Nationals are putting the finishing touches on their draft preparation
It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that right-hander Stephen Strasburg, the San Diego State flame thrower, will be Washington's first choice.
The bigger question is who will they select with the 10th pick?
The Nationals had Chad Jenkins, a right-hander from Kennesaw St., in for a workout on Thursday morning and they liked what they saw in the 6'4'' kid.
From what I've heard, if Jenkins is still on the board when the 10th pick rolls around, the Nationals will select him.
There are so many possible options out there and this draft is loaded with pitching. Having said that, the Nationals have said they will take the best available player.
Here is a list of the top players, in no particular order, after Strasburg.
RHP Aaron Crow (Ft. Worth, Independent League)
RHP Kyle Gibson (Missouri)
RHP Chad Jenkins (Kennesaw St.)
RHP Tanner Scheppers (Fresno St.)
RHP Alex White (UNC)

LHP Matt Purke (HS - TX)
RHP Jacob Turner (HS - St.Louis)
LHP Tyler Matzek (HS - CA)
RHP Shelby Miller (HS - TX)
RHP Zach Wheeler (HS - GA)

Donovan Tate is from GA, not TX.

You are correct sir. Thanks
Go with Mike Leake at #10! That said, I would much prefer Jenkins to Mike Minor or Brett Jackson -- 2 names I've heard linked to them at #10.
