Olsen's surgery was a success
Left-hander Scott Olsen has successful surgery to repair a small tear of his left labrum earlier today at the Washington Hospital Center.
"Olsen's surgery went well," said acting GM Mike Rizzo. "As little damage as could be expected was in there. Sometimes when you go in there you find stuff that was unexpected, this was all expected and as minimal as can be. Six to eight weeks until he starts a throwing program and you take it as tolerated from there."
Rizzo said that Olsen should be ready for Spring Training.
The Nationals have a 40-man roster with 10 starting pitchers on it and with Olsen arbitration eligible and making a lot of money, Rizzo was asked his there is a chance he won't be tendered.
"We've got a long way before we have to make those decisions." he said.
