The new skipper and an update on Jack

Any day now, we will find out who the Nationals' skipper will be for 2010.
It's nice to know that Jim Riggleman is still under consideration to have his interim label removed and to be given the job on a permanent basis.
Both Mike Rizzo and Stan Kasten are well aware of what Jim did after the All-Star break to keep the team focused and competitive, especially after Nyjer Morgan went down with that broken hand! But as Mike said, they will get the man they feel is best suited for the job.
Speaking of new managers, Congratulations go to Manny Acta, who has signed on to manage the Cleveland Indians. We all wish Manny well.
As for the Nationals new skipper, whoever that might be, the manager will get a ballclub full of potential with young emerging stars with which to work.
Ryan Zimmerman heads up the list, along with Adam Dunn and Josh Wilingham. Congratulations to Ryan on his nomination for the Jefferson Award and best wishes for a successfull Golf Tournament.
Nyjer will be 100% when spring training rolls around, and that young pitching staff will only get better, led by John Lannan, Craig Stammen and company.
On another note I still get emails and letters from you Nats fans asking about my grandson, 11-year-old Jack Rolle. I am happy to report his radiation treatments at Mass General Hospital in Boston are coming to an end. He has handled them like a trooper.
His final treatment will occur on November 3. Then he comes back home ro resume the life of a normal fifth grader, cancer-free. Thank God for that.
His address up in Boston is 1 Emerson Place, Apartment 2-M, Boston Mass, 02114. He really looks forward to getting those cards and letters.
Here it is, almost November - spring training is just around the corner. I can't wait, how 'bout you?

Will be interesting to see what develops with our Nats. I also wish Acta well and was happy to see him land the job in Cleveland. Guess that I'd better give my octogenarian aunt, a long-time Indians fan, a scouting report on him.
Congrats to Ryan, and I hope that a Gold Glove is in his future as well.
I'll bet that Jack will be glad when November 3 rolls around. Hope that all is smooth sailing for him after that. In the meantime, I still have a few cards up my sleeve and will send them on...
Yep, I can't wait until pitchers and catchers report.
Hello Johnny!
Regarding Jack, Great News! I've been trying to keep up with the Caring Bridge Journal on Jack's progress. I sent him (and a little something for Liam), a care package last week. Being a kid fighting cancer is tough. I imagine being the little brother of a kid fighting cancer is tough as well. Especially when you're a preschooler!
Now that Jack will be back in town, maybe the Terps will start winning! I mean, he is their good luck charm. I told him in the card I sent him to make a card that would 'SPOOK DUKE!' I guess Duke spooked the Terps, huh! Oh well.
As for Acta, I thought he would be happy in Houston and staying in the National League. I wonder if he'll manage any differently in the American League with its designated hitter.
I hope RYAN Z. wins a Gold Glove and Jefferson Awards. That reminds me, I have to go vote for him again. Vote now, Vote often. If my friends and I have anything to do with it, he WILL win a Gold Glove. Didn't you hear us at those last few NATS games screaming GOLD GLOVE from the upper deck! That was yours truly and several friends (who suggested it to me in the first place) in attendance (they know who they are!).
Keep us posted Johnny.
Miss seeing you at NATS PARK!

Tremendous news about Jack!! Jack, I hope the Nats pick you in the 2017 draft!
North Potomac.
He can't be in the 2017 draft if he's challenging Tiger on the PGA tour!
;
Selecting Jack in the 2017 draft would be quite a feather in his cap....having played Golf with Jack and on the losing end more times than I would like to admit...I think his future is on the Links. The again I can't wait to see him back on the Soccer field and Basketball court. This past year has really put things in perspective for our family. Talk about a hero..little Jack Rolle is my hero!!
Johnny
Such trying times definitely put things in perspective, don't they?
Hope that Jack gets to do some trick-or-treating over the weekend. Maybe play a few pranks on the doctors and nurses, too. ;-)
Super news about Jack... He is a real trooper. We can all learn from our children.
As far as the National go...They made a smart move with the addition of Roy Clark to their upstairs team. With the Atlanta Braves rich baseball history, any addition will add big dividends to our up and coming franchise. The 2009 season showed that we can build from the bottom up and Clark has a strong reputation in that aspect of the game.
I was also excited to see the name of Casey McKeon added to our front office staff. He comes from a pretty strong blood line. I first saw Casey in the Appalachia league(Rookie)in Bristol, Va.
Our from office moves are just as important as the moves that we make on the field. I have alway believed that to be sucessful in any aspect of life you must surround yourself with good people.
Stan knows the process of building a winner.
Go Nats!!! RR-Upstate South Carolina
I saw on the Caring Bridge site that Jack rang the bell yesterday and will be heading home tomorrow. Way to go, Jack!
