Dave Trembley talks with the media after the Orioles' 11-5 loss to the Red Sox
Hernandez, who entered with an ERA of 9.00 over his last six starts, tonight gave up seven hits and three runs over six innings.
"I thought from the first inning he threw his breaking ball better. He was more than a one-pitch guy. He's a flyball pitcher, but in order to be effective, he has to throw his secondary pitches. Plus his fastball was down more. He was done after six. Moeller concurred with that. It was good to get him out on a positive. It was a good, strong outing for him."
Trembley said he'll take a positive out of tonight - how Hernandez pitched.
"The game got out of hand after he left. We did not get the outs from Albers and Castillo we expect to get. Both of those guys have been pitching well but it did not happen."
David Hernandez's post game comments - "I felt pretty good, I was able to keep my fastball to the outer half vs. righties. I was not able to do that my last few starts. I just made better pitches tonight other than the one to Reddick, that was one of the worst sliders I'll ever throw. Anytime you can pitch vs. Boston, New York, the playoff contending teams and get through six it's a boost for your morale."
