"MASN All Access" podcast: Nats are who we thought they were

Runs galore? Check. Dominant pitching? Check. Winning homestand? Check. Above .500? Check.

The Nationals checked off a lot of boxes while going 7-3 over this past homestand, and Paul Mancano and I are back on the "MASN All Access" podcast to wrap it all up.

Now back over the .500 mark and just two games back in a tight National League East, the Nats are playing some good baseball lately and are hot heading back out west.

MAA-podcast-logo-sidebar.jpgWilmer Difo capped off the happy homestand with a walk-off base hit in yesterday's finale against the Phillies after Max Scherzer's dominant 15-strikeout performance. Scherzer's gem was just the latest not only in his own fantastic start to the season, but this starting rotation's as well.

Paul and I also dish out some well-deserved praise to manager Davey Martinez for his continued fun antics and lineup shakeup, most notably moving Bryce Harper to the leadoff spot. And how about Matt Adams over the past week or so? The left-handed power bat definitely earned some praise after slashing .379/.471/.897 with five home runs and eight RBIs over the last nine games.

Harper also had a good week on and off the field. After clubbing four home runs since being moved to the leadoff spot, he also dedicated Bryce Harper Field to local youth leagues in another nice gesture to the D.C. community. We discuss that ceremony before also touching on the rest of the division, the Matt Harvey situation in New York and Stephen Strasburg's start in his home town tonight.
