He threw 97 pitches in picking up his first win since September 6, 2008 for Milwaukee vs. San Diego. He is 1-0, 2.65 on the season. Dave Trembley said after the game on MASN: "We just have to keep plugging away at it. We had a chance in the first, but Kouzmanoff makes that great play. I wish we could have scored early and added on. "Give Hernandez some credit, he kept having the leadoff man get on but minimized some damage. We had a couple of miscues, like we had a guy picked off first base and didn't get it. We'll keep trying to break through on this thing." Trembley said Felix Pie strained his left shoulder again. He left the game in the 7th inning. It's an injury he's been dealing with the last few weeks. The skipper said he would be evaluated further after the game. He said he had planned to start Nolan Reimold in left on Friday with a lefty on the hill. Nick Markakis came up with his first RBI of the year with a 7th-inning sac fly. He is 4 for 12 the last three games. Garrett Atkins double in the 2nd snapped an 0 for 12 run. Adam Jones went 3 for 5 with a single, double and triple. It's his 3rd multi-hit game. Nolan Reimold's single in the 9th snapped a 1 for 15 stretch. Before leaving the game, Pie went 0 for 3 to end a four-game batting streak. Ty Wigginton went hitless, ending his four-game streak. Friday night at 10:05, Kevin Millwood (0-1, 2.13) makes his third start of the year vs. A's lefty Dallas Braden (1-0, 2.77). In the minors Thursday: Norfolk beat Durham 6-4 as Rhyne Hughes had a pair of doubles and an RBI. Bowie improved to 7-1 with a 9-1 romp over Akron as Ryan Adams had four hits, two doubles and 2 RBI. Bowie, which has won six in a row, has never begun a year with an 8-1 mark. Frederick got crushed 15-5 by Myrtle Beach. The Keys issued 11 walks and made three errors. Xavier Avery had two hits and is batting .400. Delmarva topped Greensboro 6-4 for its 1,000th all-time win. T.J. Baxter hit two homers with 4 RBI. Matt Hobgood gave up two runs over 5 2/3 to get the win. The Shorebirds, now 6-2, host Hagerstown tonight for their home opener.
