Giants and Nats tied after one inning (Nats win 6-2)

The Giants and Nationals began play after a 1-hour, 12-minute rain delay.
San Francisco wasted no time in scoring a few runs against Jordan Zimmermann and the Nats.
Zimmermann allowed a leadoff double to Giants center fielder Angel Pagan. Two pitches later, Hunter Pence hit a two-run homer to center field.
Zimmermann quickly retired the next three batters, but the damage was done.
The Giants took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the first.
But things did not go smoothly for the Tim Lincecum either.
Denard Span led off the bottom of the frame with a triple and Anthony Rendon followed with a walk.
Jayson Werth then followed with an RBI single to cut the Giants' lead to 2-1. Adam LaRoche then grounded into a run-scoring double play to tie the game at 2-2.
We're tied at the end of one inning.
Update: In the bottom of the second, Asdrubal Cabrera walked with one out. Zimmermann then sacrificed bunted him to second. Cabrera then scored on Span's two-out RBI single to give the Nats their first lead of the day.
Lincecum appeared to get out of the inning without allowing another run, but Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval's throw to first was high and Rendon was ruled safe.
Werth took advantage of the error as he followed with a single.
LaRoche walked, but Ian Desmond flew out to right to end the inning.
The Nats lead 5-2 after two innings.
Update II: Cabrera's two-out solo blast extended the Nats' lead to 6-2 in the third inning.
Zimmermann joined the hit parade in the inning with a two-out double. It was the fifth double of Zimmermann's career.
Lincecum was pulled after 2 2/3 innings. He allowed six runs, four earned.
Update III: Yusmeiro Petit replaced Lincecum in the third. Since then, he has held the Nats' offense in check. He has pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowed zero hits and struck out two.
Zimmermann has also settled down. He has thrown five scoreless innings since allowing two runs in the first.
The Nats lead 6-2 as we head to the seventh inning.
Update IV: Zimmermann went eight strong innings, allowed only seven hits, two runs, both earned, walked none and struck out eight. He threw 107 pitches, 78 for strikes. He surrendered only five hits after the first inning.
Update V: Matt Thornton came on to pitch the ninth and secured the Nats' 6-2 victory. It was the club's 11th win in 12 games. They improve to 73-54.
