Harrisburg, Potomac and Hagerstown all lose in minor league playoffs

The high Single-A Potomac Nationals' season ended in Salem on Tuesday as the Red Sox won the Mills Cup championship 6-4. The Red Sox won the series over the P-Nats, three games to none. Left-hander Sammy Solis took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits in 3 1/3 innings, with two walks and four strikeouts. Solis allowed two runs in the second and then the Red Sox scored four times in the fourth inning to take commanding 6-1 lead. Catcher Adrian Nieto went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, but the P-Nats went 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Adrian Sanchez and Brandon Miller also had two hits apiece. Potomac won both halves of the regular season in the Northern Division and swept Lynchburg in the division series, but was unable to win a game in the best-of-five Mills Cup. Savannah dropped the low Single-A Hagerstown Suns 6-2 in Game 2 of the South Atlantic League finals. The Sand Gnats and Suns are now even at one game apiece in their best-of-five series. Starter Austin Voth struggled with his command early and took the loss. Voth went 1 1/3 innings, allowing one hit, three runs, three walks and striking out one, with a wild pitch. Savannah raced out to an 5-0 lead. Bryan Lippincott and two hits, including a two-out, two-run triple for the Suns. Double-A Trenton too much for Harrisburg in game one of the best-of-five Eastern League finals, winning 8-2. Starter Blake Treinen allowed five runs in the second inning to suffer the loss. Treinen went 2 2/3 innings, giving up four runs, two walks and striking out three. Justin Bloxom and Jeff Howell each had two hits for the Senators. Harrisburg led 2-0 before Trenton scored five in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 7-2 lead. The Thunder leads the series, one game to none.
