Nationals reinstate catcher Wilson Ramos from DL, option right-hander Blake Treinen to Triple-A Syracuse

The Washington Nationals today returned from rehab and reinstated catcher Wilson Ramos from the 15-Day Disabled List and optioned right-handed pitcher Blake Treinen to Syracuse of the Triple-A International League. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement. Ramos, 26, returns to the Nationals after missing 32 games with a hamate fracture in his left hand, suffered on Opening Day, March 31 at New York (NL). In two Minor League rehab games, with Single-A Hagerstown and Double-A Harrisburg, Ramos went 2-for-7 (.286) with a one home run, three RBI and a walk. The Nationals' backstop was 0-for-3 on Opening Day before being removed from the game due to the injury. Ramos is a career .269 hitter who has compiled a .444 slugging percentage in 239 Major League games. In just 287 at-bats in 2013, Ramos hit 16 home runs and drove in 59. Fourteen of those home runs came in Ramos' final 64 games of the 2013 season, when he posted a .477 slugging percentage and started 63 games behind the plate. Treinen, 25, made one start for the Nationals, tossing five innings in a loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 6 without allowing an earned run. Treinen has registered a 0.77 ERA in 11.2 innings spanning four games/one start with Washington this season.
