Arrieta and injury updates, Yankees lineup
Though Jake Arrieta is here, he won't officially be recalled from Triple-A Norfolk until Friday. He wouldn't be available to pitch tonight anyway.
Manager Buck Showalter said again today that Arrieta is a candidate to pitch in relief or to start.
Chris Tillman is being examined today by team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens. He could be cleared to play catch today or Friday.
Tillman said his right elbow feels good, but he could be skipped a full turn in the rotation.
Troy Patton will test his sprained right ankle by throwing off a flat mound Friday and a regular mound on Monday. The Orioles should be able to formulate a timetable for Patton after Monday's session.
Jim Thome, on the disabled list because of a herniated disc in his neck, is being examined again today. Showalter said Thome is "proceeding positively," but the club is trying to slow him down a little to make sure he doesn't experience any setbacks. Thome, understandably, is in a rush to get back on the active roster.
Nick Markakis is sporting an ugly bruise on his left biceps after being drilled by a pitch and he doesn't have full range of motion in his arm, but he insists on playing every night. Showalter said it's "getting better every day."
Showalter doesn't anticipate any more call-ups unless one of his catchers sustains an injury.
