Beginning at midnight on Wednesday, November 9, Washington Nationals fans are encouraged to visit http://give2max.razoo.com/story/Washington-Nationals-Dream-Foundation to donate money to the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation as part of "Give to the Max Day: Greater Washington," a one-day regional online fundraiser to help raise money for D.C.-area nonprofit organizations.
The Dream Foundation is calling on the support of Nationals fans across the region to donate money during the 24 hours of giving for a chance to share in $125,000 in cash, awarded to the organizations that raise the most money and bring in the greatest number of donors.
Fans can visit http://give2max.razoo.com/story/Washington-Nationals-Dream-Foundation and contribute money to support the Foundation's mission of improving the lives of children and families throughout the area. Funds raised will help advance the Foundation's three cornerstone programs, which focus on children's health, education and recreation:
* The Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy: In partnership with the District of Columbia, the Academy will operate as a year-round youth development program committed to teaching the fundamentals of baseball and softball while providing after-school and summer educational programs for youth in Wards 7 and 8.
* The Washington Nationals Pediatric Diabetes Care Complex at Children's National Medical Center: This world-class facility will provide a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting families of children with diabetes.
* The Neighborhood Initiative: Grants and in-kind donations are among the various resources presented to local non-profit organizations that are dedicated to improving the Southeast/Southwest DC neighborhoods surrounding Nationals Park and beyond.
In addition to helping support local nonprofits, those who donate to the Dream Foundation or any organization taking part in "Give to the Max Day" will receive access to discounted Nationals tickets for the 2012 season.
The massive one-day fundraising effort is organized by United Way of the National Capital Area, the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region and online fundraising platform Razoo.com to encourage residents to give to and help strengthen the nonprofit community in Washington D.C.
