Nationals place Carpenter on DL, recall Solis from Double-A Harrisburg

The Washington Nationals recalled left-handed pitcher Sammy Solis from Double-A Harrisburg and placed right-handed pitcher David Carpenter on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 12, with right shoulder inflammation. President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement. Solis, 26, returns to the Nationals for his third stint of the season. In six games at the Major League-level this year (10.0 IP), Solis is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA with one hold out of the Nationals' bullpen. In 11 Minor League games (one start) this season Solis is 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA. Solis has posted scoreless appearances in four of his last six Minor League outings. Carpenter, 29, is 0-0 with a 1.50 ERA in eight games (6.0 IP) with the Nationals. Acquired from the New York Yankees on June 11, Carpenter is 0-1 with a 4.01 ERA in 30 total games (24.2 IP) this season.
