Nationals select Brown from Triple-A, place Tracy on DL

The Washington Nationals today selected outfielder Corey Brown from Syracuse of the Triple-A International League and placed infielder Chad Tracy on the 15-Day Disabled List, retroactive to May 27, with a right adductor strain. Additionally, Washington transferred outfielder Jayson Werth to the 60-Day DL. Nationals Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcements. Brown batted .297 with nine doubles, four triples, 12 home runs, 30 RBI and six stolen bases in 48 contests this season with the Chiefs. Brown, who homered in his last five games played with Syracuse, hit .359 with nine home runs and 23 RBI in 24 games during the month of May. The 26-year-old ranks among the International League's leaders for hits (55, tied for second), triples (four, tied for second), home runs (third), RBI (tied for eighth) and walks (31, sixth). Brown played in three games last season with Washington. Tracy, 32, is batting .265 with three doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI in 32 games this season with the Nationals. He is hitting .333 (6-for-18) with a home run and a MLB-leading 9 RBI as a pinch hitter in 2012.
