SEATTLE - The Orioles' short-season Single-A Aberdeen affiliate will have a new manager when they play at Vermont tonight.
Luis Pujols managed the IronBirds in last night's doubleheader at Vermont, where Aberdeen lost both games. Kevin Bradshaw is taking over as skipper as of tonight, and will mange the club for the remainder of the season.
An Orioles official said the team would not have a comment on the reason for the change.
Bradshaw was the field coach for the Orioles' Rookie-level Gulf Coast League team after serving as O's minor league infielder coordinator in 2015. He spent 2013-14 in his second stint as the minor league infield coordinator with the Detroit Tigers after serving in the same capacity from 2008-2010. He was the Tigers' minor league field coordinator from 2011-12. Prior to assuming the role of infield coordinator in 2008, he spent 14 seasons as a manager in the Tigers system
Before assuming the role of infield coordinator in 2008, he went 541-617 (.467) as a manger in the Tigers organization. He last managed Single-A Lakeland in the Florida State League in 2007 to a record of 53-87.
The IronBirds are 5-8 and in third place in the McNamara Division of the New York-Penn League.
