Guthrie's big-time escape act (Bell injured at Norfolk)

The Orioles tied tonight's game in the bottom of the fourth on Robert Andino's two-out double and Toronto left-hander Brett Cecil's throwing error. The Blue Jays almost untied it in the top of the fifth, and they're still wondering how they botched that assignment. They loaded the bases with no outs against Orioles starter Jeremy Guthrie on Eric Thomas' double, Matt Wieters' error and Adam Lind's single to right. Thomas was held at third, a smart decision given the situation and right fielder Nick Markakis' arm. Edwin Encarnacion followed with a tapper to Guthrie, who started a 1-2-3 double play that took most of the air out of the Blue Jays' rally. The rest of it seeped out when Kelly Johnson flied to deep center. Both teams have three runs, six hits and one error. The Orioles' 76-inning errorless streak ended when Wieters dropped Jose Bautista's pop up near the mound. Down on the farm, Josh Bell hit his 19th home run for Triple-A Norfolk. He's 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored against Charlotte's Phil Humber. Felix Pie, starting in left field, is 2-for-3 with a double and run scored. Instant update: Adam Jones walked with one out in the fifth and scored on Vladimir Guerrero's double to right. Guerrero was thrown out trying for a triple. He received a standing ovation on his way back to the dugout. Orioles 4, Toronto 3. Rhyne Hughes pinch-hit for Bell. Don't know why. Tonight's attendance: 10,756 Update II: Bell was removed from the game with a left ankle sprain. He'll be re-evaluated tomorrow. And yes, he's day-to-day.
