Knorr, LeCroy and Henley stay with Nationals in new roles, Daubach promoted

The Nationals announced Monday that three of the coaches that did not have their contracts renewed with the major league club will stay in the organization in different roles.

Former bench coach Randy Knorr assumes the position of senior assistant to the general manager, player development. Knorr brings a wealth of knowledge and minor league managerial and coaching experience with the Nationals to the position, which will be critical to maintaining cohesion within the system.

Nats Park day game.jpgKnorr managed the 2008 high Single-A Potomac Nationals to the Mills Cup title as Carolina League Champions. He also managed the 2011 Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs.

Knorr interviewed for the Nationals vacant managerial spot in 2013 when the job was given to Matt Williams. Knorr stayed on as Williams' bench coach the last two seasons.

Former third base coach Bobby Henley will take on the role of senior advisor, player development. Henley was the Nationals' field coordinator of minor league instruction from 2010 through 2013. He had been the third base coach since 2013.

Former bullpen coach Matt LeCroy will return to being the Double-A manager for Harrisburg. LeCroy has managed at low Single-A Hagerstown, Potomac and Harrisburg.

Former Double-A manager Brian Daubach moves up to Triple-A as the Syracuse hitting coach. Daubach has also been manager for Hagerstown, Potomac and Harrisburg.
