Manny Machado still leading at third base for the All-Star Game

The Orioles' Manny Machado remains the leader in balloting at third base for the 87th All-Star Game set for July 12 in San Diego. Machado has 1,626,064 votes to lead Toronto's Josh Donaldson with 1,112,743. Machado is looking to make the All-Star Game for the third time.

No other Orioles lead at their positions. Catcher Matt Wieters is second by a huge margin to Kansas City's Salvador Perez (2,744,293 to 807,958 votes). First baseman Chris Davis is third in the voting, behind leader Eric Hosmer of Kansas City and Miguel Cabrera of Detroit.

Manny-Machado-white-close.jpgMark Trumbo is involved in a very close race for the third American League outfielder position. Mike Trout of the Angels leads with 2,324,597 votes with the Red Sox's Jackie Bradley Jr. second at 1,725,672 and Mookie Betts third with 1,435,218. Trumbo has 1,408,195 and Kansas City's Lorenzo Cain is fifth with 1,403,617, while Toronto's José Bautista is sixth with 1,302,121. Betts leading Trumbo for third place is the closest vote at any position in the AL right now.

Trumbo is seeking his second-career All-Star nod (2012) and first fan election, while Cain aims for his second consecutive selection and fan-elected start. Trumbo, who leads the AL and is tied for first in the majors with 20 home runs, is batting .281 with 12 doubles, 38 runs scored and a .551 slugging percentage on the season.

Machado, currently serving a four-game suspension for charging the mound, is batting .317 with 27 doubles, 17 homers and 42 RBIs. He can return to the Orioles on Friday when they host the Rays.
