More roster moves coming (Bundy and Hoes honored)

It seems like I've written that title more than once this season. And this week. What time is it? Left-hander Jo-Jo Reyes is joining the Orioles and the bullpen today in Kansas City. He'll likely take the roster spot of left-hander Troy Patton, who's leaving the team to attend a hearing in Texas related to his DWI arrest over the winter. The Orioles most likely will place Jake Arrieta on the disabled list with a sore elbow that's expected to require surgery. He wouldn't be available to start before Aug. 11, one day after his scheduled appointment with Dr. Lewis Yocum in California, and it's fairly obvious that he's done for the season. The Orioles could recall Chris Tillman to take Arrieta's turn this weekend against the Blue Jays at Camden Yards. He's already on the 40-man roster, though Arrieta could be placed on the 60-day disabled list to create another opening. I doubt that Reyes is going to move into the rotation this soon, but it's no accident that the Orioles claimed a pitcher off waivers who's been a starter in the past. He hasn't been what you'd call a successful one, but he's done it. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Germans love David Hasselhoff. No, that's not it. The Orioles' rotation is wide open. Any Triple-A or Double-A starter who goes on a hot streak should be considered for a promotion. Infielder Cesar Izturis remains with Double-A Bowie. He could be activated from the disabled list this weekend. Do you get the sense that the Orioles aren't in a big rush? Izturis didn't receive enough at-bats during his rehab assignment, so he worked out with the club for a few days in New York and returned to the Baysox. And let's be honest here. There isn't a huge need for Izturis' services beyond bringing a respected veteran into the clubhouse. NOTE: The Orioles named Single-A Frederick's Bobby Bundy as the organization's minor league PItcher of the Month for July. Bundy went 4-0 with a 2.11 ERA in six starts. Double-A Bowie's LJ Hoes was named Player of the Month for July. Hoes batted .349 with six doubles, four home runs, 21 RBIs and seven stolen bases.
