Orioles acquire Pearce from Yankees; Hall designated for assignment

The Orioles today announced that they have acquired outfielder/first baseman Steve Pearce from the New York Yankees organization in exchange for cash considerations. Pearce, 29, was batting .321 with 15 doubles, 11 home runs, 30 RBI and a .996 OPS in 52 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. In 185 major league games over five seasons (2007-11) with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pearce batted .232 with 29 doubles, three triples, nine home runs and 52 RBI. To make room for Pearce on the major league roster, infielder/outfielder Bill Hall was designated for assignment. In seven games for the Orioles, Hall batted .222 (2-9) with one home run, two runs scored and one RBI.
