"Orioles Classics" rewind: Oriole Park Classics Game No. 9

OK, so it's the last football Sunday in the season, which is a pretty good indicator that baseball isn't far behind. And if you really don't want to watch the Super Bowl tonight, there's at least some alternate programming that should warm your baseball heart.

The No. 9 game in our countdown of the top contests in Oriole Park's history airs at 7 p.m. on MASN. And while we can't divulge exactly which game will be broadcast tonight, we feel certain that we can tell you it was worth the wait.

Of course, we have a plethora of "Orioles Classics" on MASN this week to get you closer to that wonderful day when pitchers and catchers report at the Ed Smith Stadium complex in Sarasota, Fla.

If there was a theme for this week's games (well, most of them), it might be home runs. Enjoy these blasts from the past!

Tuesday, Feb. 7, 1 p.m. - July 11, 1987 is a memorable day in Oriole history. That's the day Cal Ripken Sr. managed his two sons - shortstop Cal Jr. and second baseman Billy - giving the Birds three Ripkens in one major league game. Twins pitcher Frank Viola outdueled Baltimore's Mike Griffin in a 2-1 win at Memorial Stadium, with Billy driving home the Orioles' lone run.

Wednesday, Feb. 8, 12:30 a.m. - Nightowls will enjoy this game from Aug. 15, 2015, when Chris Davis launched a pair of homers and drove in three runs in a 4-3 win over the A's. One of Davis' longballs was a ninth-inning walk-off off switch-pitcher Pat Venditte.

Wednesday, Feb. 8, 12:30 p.m. - Matt Wieters played the hero in this game from Sept. 17, 2013, slapping a two-run single in the 10th inning for a 4-3 walk-off against the White Sox.

Wednesday, Feb. 8, 7 p.m. - If you enjoyed Wieters doing in the White Sox, you'll like his performance in this June 24, 2012 win over the Nationals. Washington was clinging to a 1-0 lead until Wieters went deep with a two-run shot off Sean Burnett for a 2-1 triumph.

Thursday, Feb. 9, 12:30 p.m. - Davis notched his 51st homer of the season at Fenway Park, setting an Orioles record, and Wieters' sacrifice fly in the ninth gave the Orioles a 3-2 victory over the Red Sox.

Thursday, Feb. 9, 7 p.m. - Davis' homers often come in bunches, and on May 29, 2013, he connected for a pair in a 9-6 interleague win over the Nationals. Davis' power display helped offset three blasts by Washington's Ryan Zimmerman.

Friday, Feb. 10, 1 p.m. - Homers were flying out of Camden Yards on Aug. 25, 2014, when the Birds bashed five longballs in a 9-1 shellacking of the Rays. Nick Markakis, Steve Pearce, Delmon Young, J.J. Hardy and Davis went deep. Check out a spectacular defensive play by Adam Jones, too.
