The Orioles waited until first pitch, as always, to announce their roster moves.
They created room on the 40-man roster by designating Blake Davis and Mark Hendrickson for assignment.
Davis, 27, hit .254 (15-for-59) in 25 games for the Orioles this year. Hendrickson, 37, posted a 5.73 ERA in eight games and 11 innings.
Hendrickson recently went through optional waivers so the Orioles could put him back on the 40-man. Now they've taken him off.
The Orioles needed two spots on the 40-man tonight for relievers Clay Rapada and Jeremy Accardo.
You already know that the Orioles also recalled infielders Josh Bell and Pedro Florimon, and activated infielder Chris Davis from the disabled list.
Chris Davis is making his 50th career start at third base tonight, and his first with the Orioles.
Update: Orioles starter Tommy Hunter retired the first seven batters he faced tonight, but Jorge Posada homered with one out in the bottom of the third inning to give New York a 1-0 lead.
Posada has 13 homers this season, and the Yankees have 198.
Before tonight, Hunter had allowed 11 runs and 19 hits in 16 1/3 innings in three career starts against the Yankees, with three walks, 16 strikeouts and four home runs.
