Orioles partner with Catholic Relief Services to host "10,000 Meal Challenge" in Sarasota

The Orioles and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Helping Hands invite the greater Sarasota community to join the 10,000 Meal Challenge - a fundraising project to send 10,000 meals to vulnerable people in Burkina Faso, West Africa. The challenge culminates in a fun-filled volunteer meal-packaging event at Ed Smith Stadium on Saturday, March 18, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Registered teams will have the opportunity to pack meals alongside Orioles Hall of Famer and MASN analyst Mike Bordick, MASN broadcaster Jim Hunter, Orioles staff, and the Oriole Bird. There will also be great prizes, and participants can donate canned goods to All Faiths Food Bank for families in need in Sarasota County.

"Through the 10,000 Meal Challenge, for every 50 cents raised, CRS Helping Hands can provide one meal to our underfed global neighbors and fund projects that help families support themselves," said DAVID ROVINE, Vice President of Orioles-Sarasota. "As a partner in this project, the Orioles hope to provide hunger relief and bring awareness to the issue of hunger on an international level."

The Orioles are committed to fighting hunger locally, nationally, and internationally on a year-round basis. Each year, the Orioles host the OriolesREACH Food & Funds Drive at Oriole Park, in addition to hosting food drives with All Faiths Food Bank and Mayors' Feed the Hungry Program in Sarasota.
