Throughout this season, the amount of innings, or at times, the lack of innings, Orioles starters are pitching right now has been an issue. Here is a look at the average innings per start by each team in the AL East: 6.24 - Tampa Bay 6.13 - Boston 6.00 - New York 5.54 - Orioles 5.40 - Toronto How they rank in starting pitchers' ERA: 2.53 - Boston, first in AL 3.44 - New York, fifth in AL 3.77 - Tampa Bay, sixth in AL 4.97 - Orioles, 10th in AL 5.61 - Toronto, 13th in AL How many times O's starters have gone six innings or more: 4 - Jason Hammel 3 - Wei-Yin Chen 2 - Miguel Gonzalez 0 - Jake Arrieta and Chris Tillman Win-loss record when they start: 3-1 - Hammel and Arrieta 2-1 - Gonzalez 1-2 - Tillman 1-3 - Chen The quality start stat is one that I look at sometimes. It can tell us if a pitcher keeps his team in the game and gets at least through the sixth inning. The Orioles' front of the rotation - Hammel, Chen and Gonzalez - has combined for seven quality starts in 11 outings this season. The O's are 0-for-7 when Arrieta or Tillman has started. It's Tillman's turn tonight here at the Yard.
