Pair of walk off winners down on the Nats farm

There was plenty of walk-off excitement in Woodbridge.

Recently called up third baseman Khayyan Norfork scored the winning run on a Carolina double play attempt as the P-Nats downed Carolina 6-5.

With the game knotted at 5-5, Norfork was hit by a pitch to start the rally. He went to second on Oscar Tejeda's groundout. Kevin Keyes was then intentionally walked by Carolina's Louis Head (0-1). Brandon Miller's hard grounder to shortstop Erik Gonzalez was thrown to second baseman Torsten Boss to record the second out, but the relay to first was too late. First baseman Charlie Valerio then tried to get Norfork at the plate, but Norfork was safe with a headfirst slide.

It was Potomac's first walk-off win of the season. Norfork finished 2-for-4 with a triple and run scored to raise his average to .286. Keyes finished with three RBIs while Miller had two RBIs.

Brian Rauh went five innings, allowed two runs with four strikeouts for the no decision. Robert Benincasa (1-0) tossed a scoreless night for the win.

* Matt Skole was the hero in a walk-off winner for Double-A Harrisburg as the Senators beat Altoona 4-3 in 10 innings.

Brandon Bantz led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a double. Pinch-hitter Sean Nicol singled, but Bantz was out as he hit batted the ball between second and third. Michael A. Taylor flew out to right field for the second out.

With Cutter Dykstra at the plate, Nicol reaches second base on a balk by Altoona pitcher Brandon Mann. Dykstra was then intentionally walked. With men on first and second, Skole singled on a line drive to center field for the game winner.

Skole went 2-for-5 with a run scored, double and three RBIs. Taylor had three hits and Rick Hague a pair of base knocks.

The Senators have won two in a row after losing eight of their first nine games to start the season.

Starter Blake Schwartz allowed one run in five innings and struck out seven. Tyler Herron (1-0) pitched two innings for the win, surrendering two hits, no runs and striking out one.

* The game between Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs and Lehigh Valley IronPigs was rained out. It will be played as part of a doubleheader Tuesday which begins at 5 p.m. . Left-hander Danny Rosenbaum and right-hander Ryan Tatusko are scheduled to pitch for the Chiefs.

* Single-A Delmarva fell to Hagerstown 9-2. Nick Pivetta (2-1) allowed five runs in 2 1/3 innings for the loss. Shortstop and second baseman Wilmer Difo went 2-for-2 with a double and stolen base. He is now batting .327.
