Rendon highlights Nationals' instructional league roster of infielders

The Nationals' instructional league team reports today in Viera, Fla., with the first official workout schedule for Saturday. The 14-game schedule commences Sept. 23 against the Braves and runs through Oct. 12. It also includes international matchups against teams from China and Italy. We have previews of the pitchers and catchers reporting and today we will focus on the Nationals' talented roster of infielders invited to the camp. Anthony Rendon, the team's first-round selection out of Rice University, highlights the field. Players such as Justin Bloxom, Blake Kelso, Jeff Kobernus, Jason Martinson, Bryce Ortega, Matt Skole and Zach Walters are also in instructional league. Also on the roster are Diomedes Eusebio, Estarlin Martinez, Arialdi Peguero, Adrian Sanchez, Steven Souza and Deion Williams. Infield coordinator Jeff Garber has worked with the infielders all summer and several of them, including Skole, have talked about what a difference working with Garber has been for them with throws, footwork and overall defense. Tyler Moore not listed in the infield roster, but he is expected to work out and practice with the outfielders for a 10-day window during the upcoming camp.
