Orioles manager Buck Showalter revealed the first piece of his rotation for the American League Championship Series, naming Chris Tillman the starter for Game 1 at Camden Yards.
Showalter said he's going to inform the other starters before leaving the ballpark this evening. He just needs to announce what order Bud Norris, Wei-Yin Chen and Miguel Gonzalez will work in the series.
The other starters will be in the bullpen for Game 1, just in case it runs long or there's an emergency.
Showalter said he thinks the game will be played despite a forecast that calls for rain.
Chris Davis took ground balls at first base with Steve Pearce during batting practice and later moved to third base. However, he won't be included on the ALCS roster.
Davis is allowed to be with the team during the playoffs while serving the last five games of his suspension. He just can't sit on the bench.
Showalter indicated that Davis will be considered for the World Series roster if the Orioles advance past the Royals in the ALCS.
Showalter said Nick Hundley most likely will catch Tillman on Friday. Hundley has been behind the plate for Tillman's last 14 starts, including Game 1 of the Division Series.
Showalter joked about Caleb Joseph's rumored injury and hoped that he hadn't jinxed his catcher by mentioning it.
Outfielder Quintin Berry and reliever Ryan Webb will be with the team for the ALCS, even if they're not on the roster.
Lots more to come.
