Tillman pushed back to Monday, more on roster moves (updated)

Lots and lots of activity today at Camden Yards, and the game isn't scheduled to start for more than two hours. Chris Tillman's next start has been pushed back to Monday in Minnesota after he experienced back spasms a few days ago. Miguel Gonzalez will move up a day and pitch tomorrow against the Tigers at Camden Yards. The Orioles still don't have an update on Jason Hammel, whose MRI took place at 1 p.m. The good news is his right knee didn't swell up during the night. Reviewing the roster moves, left-hander Dana Eveland was designated for assignment and catcher Ronny Paulino cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk to create room on the 40-man roster for reliever Miguel Socolovich, who's contract was purchased from Norfolk, and catcher Taylor Teagarden, who was activated from the 60-day disabled list. Eveland can become a free agent if he clears waivers. He already cleared this spring and accepted his assignment, and he's expected to do the same if the situation repeats itself. Paulino can refuse his outright assignment and elect free agency. He's going to discuss it with his family. The Orioles placed Paulino on waivers during the All-Star break after informing him of their plans during the series in Anaheim. Updated: OK, now that you've gnawed on the news, I'll give you a quote from manager Buck Showalter to cleanse your palate. But first, I should point out that Eveland's removal from the 25- and 40-man rosters almost assures that left-hander Zach Britton will start Tuesday in Minnesota. Also, left-hander Brian Matusz appears to be first in line to take Hammel's turn if another change is made to the rotation. Showalter told reporters that Tillman experienced back spasms on Thursday. "He looks like he's fine. He could probably pitch, but it also keeps the ball in Gonzalez's hand instead of waiting another day," Showalter said. "He's had plenty of rest. And just be on the safe side and give (Tillman) one extra day instead of pitching him tomorrow." If Eveland clears waivers, it would happen on Monday. He would have to forfeit his salary if he declined an outright assignment. I'll have more quotes later, but I'm running late for Jim Palmer's statue unveiling and I don't want to miss it. For the Tigers: Austin Jackson CF Ramon Santiago 2B Miguel Cabrera 3B Prince Fielder 1B Delmon Young DH Jhonny Peralta SS Ryan Raburn RF Gerald Laird C Quintin Berry LF Max Scherzer RHP
