A few more pregame notes

Reliever Jason Berken came off the disabled list today after throwing a bullpen session Saturday at the minor league complex in Sarasota. Nick Delmonico, the Orioles' sixth-round draft pick out of Farragut High School in Tennessee, stopped by Camden Yards today and took early batting practice. He'll head to Sarasota tomorrow for the fall instructional league. Manager Buck Showalter was impressed with Delmonico, saying, "That's the way they're supposed to look." Brian Graham, the Orioles' coordinator of minor league instruction, will join the Orioles tomorrow. He's replacing Bobby Dickerson, who's headed to Sarasota. Minor league coaches Denny Hocking and Jose Hernandez also will join the Orioles and assist in throwing batting practice. Showalter was asked why the Orioles didn't recall pitcher Chris Tillman from Triple-A Norfolk. "We just felt like as an organization, with the innings and everything that's gone on this year, just let him rest from the season and hopefully be ready to come in and compete next year for a spot," Showalter said. "We have some things here we want to look at and find out. It's important that Zach (Britton) gets to his innings that he needs to get to pitching in the month of September, and try to make an evaluation of where (Alfredo) Simon is. Obviously, (Jeremy) Guthrie and (Tommy) Hunter. And there's some things we wanted to see, and some other things just didn't fit. It was in his best interest to just be done with the season." They've been greatly appreciated.
