The reports of Mets pitcher Hisanori Takahashi being a slow worker weren't exaggerated. It's like watching Steve Trachsel on Quaaludes. Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" was playing over the PA system between innings, and a few of us started singing, "Taka Takahasi." Very mature, I know. We're still tied, 1-1, heading to the top of the fifth. The Orioles tried to play little ball to push across the go-ahead run in the third, with Corey Patterson laying down a sacrifice bunt after Cesar Izturis' leadoff single, but Miguel Tejada popped up and Nick Markakis flied out. Update: The Mets took a 2-1 lead in the sixth after the Orioles failed to turn a double play. Matusz should be sitting in the dugout with the score tied. Matusz and Mets first baseman Ike Davis played against each other numerous times in Little League, and they were on the same Connie Mack team. You can look it up. Triple-A Norfolk's Michael Aubrey and Blake Davis homered in the third inning tonight, and left-hander Troy Patton has shut out Columbus on two hits over four innings. His ERA's down to 4.84.
