A slow start, a nice comeback (Nats win 6-5)

After a slow start, the Nationals have stormed back to take the lead over the Diamondbacks thanks to a monster fifth inning. Jayson Werth, Ryan Zimmerman, Michael Morse and Jesus Flores all delivered run-scoring hits in the fifth, with Zimmerman's single plating two. That five-run inning turned a 4-1 Nats deficit into a 6-4 Washington lead. Seven Nationals hitters reached in the fifth, knocking Diamondbacks starter Wade Miley out after just 4 1/3 innings. The Nats put up a run in the top of the first to take an early 1-0 lead, but Arizona jumped all over Edwin Jackson early on, taking a 4-1 lead after three. Jackson hasn't had his best stuff tonight, and he's allowed six hits and three walks through five. But thanks to the Nationals' offensive explosion, the righty might still be able to earn his seventh win of the season. Werth, Zimmerman and Steve Lombardozzi all have two hits on the night, and Zimmerman is now up to 64 RBIs on the year, this despite missing 13 games while on the disabled list and not being himself for much of the first half of the season. Update: The D'backs followed the Nationals' big inning with a run of their own to cut the Washington lead to 6-5. Jackson is done after 5 2/3 innings, with Tom Gorzelanny starting the parade of Nationals relievers for tonight. Update II: Another 3 1/3 fantastic innings out of the Nationals bullpen helped net Washington a hard-fought 6-5 win. This pushes the Nats to 28 games above .500. They just keep on rolling.
