An early look at how Double-A Harrisburg's lineup shakes out

Harrisburg should once again have a talented crew as one would expect, considering Double-A is normally the stopping point for an organization's best prospects. It will be interesting to see what the Nationals decide for the Senators in the outfield. Center fielder Michael Taylor, the Single-A Potomac Nationals' 2013 Player of the Year, and outfielder Caleb Ramsey are good choices. Center fielder Brian Goodwin could possibly move up to a starting role with Triple-A Syracuse. Outfielder Destin Hood is also in the mix. Theo Bowe, the youngster acquired from the Reds in the minor league phase of the Rule V Draft who plays left field, will lead off in Harrisburg or Syracuse. He is the speed replacement for Billy Burns and is a top-of-the-scale runner at just 23. Bowe had 70 stolen bases in his 2012 campaign. The raw power of right fielder Steven Souza will be an asset for the organization, and he is valuable on any team. The other big power hitter is third baseman Matt Skole, who should be in line for a good year as he returns from Tommy John surgery which held him to two games last season. Skole did play 15 games in the Arizona Fall League, but wasn't at full strength in his legs. That strength will be at full force as the season begins. First base could also be a stopping point for Skole, as he will get looks at third and first. Kevin Keyes and Justin Bloxom are other first base possibilities. Shortstop Jason Martinson struggled a little bit last year, but had a great season the year prior for Hagerstown and Potomac. He could play at each of those levels. Other infielders to look at include shortstop Ricky Hague, third baseman Cutter Dykstra and 23-year-old second baseman Adrian Sanchez. There are a lot of players on this team that are ready to prove they can play at the highest levels. It will be fun to watch to see how new Harrisburg manager Brian Daubach directs them, having known these kids for a couple of years, and most of them their entire pro careers.
