Anthony Amobi: This time around, Reimold making most of opportunity

Parts of the last two seasons have been nothing short of rough for Nolan Reimold. However, Remold is now back in the big leagues with the Baltimore Orioles and when he's been given the opportunity to play, the man has delivered in key moments. His bat played a huge role in Saturday's victory against the Nationals and also on Thursday against the Royals, where his home runs helped extend the Orioles' winning streak to five games. During the past week, Reimold has once again shown flashes of an impact player that were evident since he joined the organization. After toiling in the minors for a while, Reimold has made the most of his recent call-up. Considering the upheaval Reimold went through last year with recovering from an injury after a promising rookie season, plus personal issues, it's little wonder why he struggled during the start of the 2010 season. Well, Reimold was handed a roster spot in Baltimore - which was his to lose - and barely hit above the Mendoza line before he was sent to Triple-A Norfolk. Reimold was pegged as part of the Orioles' future; however, it seemed that he'd become an afterthought and almost forgotten in a sense with Matt Wieters, Brian Matusz, Jake Arrieta and now Zach Britton establishing themselves in Baltimore. Also, let's not forget that he was nearly traded the rival Rays over the winter; however, the organization still had faith him in him. It looks like he's gotten his life straightened out and worked with Orioles legend Brady Anderson in offseason workouts to get his career back on track. Out of spring training, Reimold was a strong candidate to make the team due to his outstanding numbers; sadly, he got cut due to a numbers game, with Felix Pie making the 25-man roster. Therefore, he once again had to settle for starting the season in Triple-A. Reimold didn't grouse or moan publicly. He worked on his game and got an opportunity to once again suit up for the Orioles due to a litany of injuries as of late. That being said, Reimold is making the Orioles' decision as to what to do with him very difficult. Reimold has only played in a handful of games this week, but if he can hit with consistency, show some power at the plate and remain upbeat, there's no reason why he can't remain with the Orioles.
