Arrieta doesn't slow his roll

Jake Arrieta isn't just knocking on the door. He's kicking it in, repairing it and kicking it in again. Handy guy. Arrieta held Rochester to one run and five hits over eight innings, with two walks and seven strikeouts. He threw 106 pitches, 66 for strikes, and his ERA's down to 1.77. Arrieta has allowed two earned runs or fewer in five of his last six starts. In his last three starts, he's surrendered two runs and 16 hits, walked six and struck out 23 in 22 innings. How much longer can the Orioles keep him down? How will they eventually make room for him? Dennis Sarfate tossed a perfect ninth inning, striking out one, for his third save. Robert Andino homered in the eighth inning, his sixth of the season, to break a 1-1 tie. Nolan Reimold, serving as the DH, was 0-for-3 with a walk and strikeout to lower his average to .122. Josh Bell was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Brandon Snyder was 1-for-3. Matt Angle went 0-for-4. Single-A Frederick left-hander Nate Nery took a shutout into the sixth inning against Myrtle Beach before allowing two home runs and falling behind, 3-0. Those were the only runs he surrendered in eight innings, but the Keys lost, 4-3. Catcher Brian Ward doubled twice and also drove in two of Frederick's three runs in the bottom of the ninth. Second baseman Buck Britton was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Billy Rowell, back in the lineup and serving as the DH, struck out in all four at-bats. Julio Teheran, making his third start for Myrtle Beach, struck out 14 and didn't walk a batter in eight scoreless innings. Single-A Delmarva catcher Michael Ohlman, an 11th-round pick in 2009, hit his second homer in a 14-3 loss to Lakewood. Kieron Pope, serving as the DH and continuing his marvelous comeback story, went 3-for-5 and is batting .344. Second baseman Tyler Kelly was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Shortstop Mychal Givens, a second-round pick last June, went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two strikeouts. He also committed his third error on a poor throw. Kenny Moreland was charged with six runs and nine hits in five-plus innings. He served up two home runs, and his ERA ballooned to 7.15. Reliever Brent Allar allowed five runs and five hits, with two walks, in one inning.
