Bench-clearing time (Reynolds gets record)

We don't have a brawl at Camden Yards. Just a blowout. Manager Buck Showalter sent up Matt Angle to pinch-hit for J.J. Hardy in the bottom of the seventh, and Angle reached on a throwing error by shortstop Yunel Escobar - and a horrible call by first base umpire Joe West. Jake Fox pinch-hit for Nick Markakis and bounced into a double play. Matt Wieters is the only reserve left on the bench, and Showalter won't use him tonight. Nolan Riemold moves from left to right field. Angle is playing left. Fox is playing first, with Mark Reynolds moving to third and Robert Andino shifting over to shortstop. Toronto rookie Henderson Alvarez has faced the minimum number of batters through seven innings. The Orioles have two baserunners, and they've both been erased on double plays. Nineteen of the 21 outs recorded by Alvarez have come on strikeouts or ground balls. The Orioles are being outhit, 17-1. Left-hander Zach Phillips, recalled earlier today from Triple-A Norfolk, is making his major league debut in the eighth inning. Reynolds has tied Mickey Tettleton's single-season club record with 160 strikeouts. Did anyone notice how Ryan Adams reacted to Escobar's grounder in the top of the seventh? He barely moved as the ball scooted past him and into right field, almost as if he didn't know the pitch had been thrown. He seemed to lean a little to his right, though the ball was hit to his left. Very strange. Showalter's expression in the dugout was priceless. Update: Reynolds just struck out for the third time tonight to break Tettleton's record. Umpires reviewed whether Edwin Encarnacion's double in the top of the eighth inning should have been a home run. A male fan appeared to reach over the fence. The call stood, and Encarnacion stayed at second base. It's 13-0. I'm reviewing why I drove here today.
