It's been a while since we've gotten a whiff of news about the Nationals' pursuit of a new spring training home. Depending on how you view the machinations, the saga has either plot twists befitting a taut mystery or all the kind of awkward exchange you felt when asking a date to the middle school dance.
But there's new news, courtesy of this story in The News-Press of Fort Myers, one of the possible Sunshine State destinations for the Nationals. (a tip of the 'ol ballcap to @misschatter...

Which Nationals hitters deserve to be voted into the starting lineup for the All-Star Game at Citi Field on Tuesday, July 16?
Maybe you favor youth, and figure left fielder Bryce Harper, all of 20, should be starting after making it as a 19-year-old reserve last year. Or you think first baseman Adam LaRoche and his Gold Glove defense can help the National League win the Midsummer Classic. Or you just want right fielder Jayson Werth and his scruffy beard standing on the base line for pregame...
The Orioles today announced that they have recalled left-hander Zach Britton from Triple-A Norfolk.
Britton, 25, has gone 1-0 with a 1.98 ERA (13.2IP, 3ER) in three starts with the Tides this season. The left-hander is 16-14 with a 4.74 ERA (214.2IP, 113ER) in 40 games (39 starts) in the major leagues since 2011.
With this move, the Orioles' 25-man roster is now full.
Ready. Set. Vote.
In fact, why not "Vote Orange?"
That's how the Orioles have colored the start of voting for the All-Star Game, which will be held on Tuesday, July 12 at Citi Field in Flushing, N.Y. The O's want to be fairly represented at the Midsummer Classic and beginning today, fans can cast up to 35 ballots per email address to send their favorite Birds to New York.
Online voting began at 3 p.m., and fans can cast their ballots here using the official ballot.

Having Brooks Robinson back at Camden Yards on Saturday eulogizing former Orioles manager Earl Weaver wasn't necessarily a somber occasion. In fact, leading into Saturday's "Celebration of Earl," many fans were telling me they were most looking forward to having the chance to see, listen to, perhaps even meet Robinson.
That's the Brooks effect. His mere presence makes wherever he is, whatever is happening a little more special and a lot more enjoyable. He's a civic treasure, to be...

The Nationals treated Mets right-hander Jeremy Hefner like a guy with a 7.20 ERA, and had an lead to show for their efforts.
Ian Desmond led off the second inning with his third homer of the season and Bryce Harper crushed a two-run homer into the left field stands at Citi Field in the third, staking the Nats to a 3-0 lead.
But it's now 5-3 Mets in the fourth, as the Mets have battled back and taken advantage of some wildness that led to a troubling lack of composure from lefty Gio...

What makes a great baseball movie? Like all flicks, it's got to have a compelling story that grabs your attention. Interesting characters are a must, because without them, you're thinking more about refilling that 68-ounce Diet Coke than what's on the screen. Intriguing dialogue follows good characters on my must-have list.
But the most important thing for a successful baseball movie is a reverent, honest portrayal of the game, on and off the field. With it, you've got blockbusters like...
