Bundy vs. Green again tonight (O's lead 3-0)

If you couldn't get enough of Dylan Bundy and Chad Green last weekend in New York, here's your chance to watch them again in the same game.

Neither pitcher distinguished himself at Yankee Stadium. Bundy allowed five runs and seven hits in four innings, and Green surrendered four runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. The Orioles lost 13-5, making Green feel a little better about the situation.

"I think it kind of equals out," said manager Buck Showalter. "I think the familiarity that the hitters have and the familiarity that the pitchers have, I mean, good hitters and good pitchers use that to their advantage. But if a guy's got really, really good stuff, like (Max) Scherzer, is there an advantage to us if we face him five days later? Not if he's carrying that stuff again.

"There's not many secrets this time of the year. Even the guys that they've called up, we've seen a lot before. The advance meetings this time of year when you're playing teams, the divisional opponents, so close together, you're almost repeating yourself in the advance stuff, so you've got to be careful about that.

"I think it kind of equals out. I look back through, and when Dylan got the ball where he needed to get it in the right sequence, he had no problems. And we've gone through a little spell here where it seems like every ground ball a guy hits goes down the third base line. We had a lot of balls hit on the button that they caught in the last series. That's the way it goes sometimes. We're due for a little good luck."

Bundy also has faced the Yankees twice in relief, allowing three runs and seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.

The Orioles are watching Bundy closely for any signs of arm fatigue, his innings total up to 85 heading into tonight. The rookie insists that he's fine physically.

Two of Bundy's last three starts have been disappointments. He faced the Red Sox on Aug. 17 and allowed five runs and nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Bundy is 5-4 with a 4.21 ERA in nine starts this season and 2-1 with a 3.08 ERA in 22 relief appearances.

Didi Gregorius is 2-for-4 against Bundy, Brett Gardner and Starlin Castro are 2-for-5 and Mark Teixeira are 2-for-3 with a double.

Green is making his 12 appearance and eighth start. He tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings against the Orioles on July 21.

Right-handers are batting .225 against Green and left-handers are hitting .296. The Orioles' lineup includes three left-handers and Matt Wieters, a switch-hitter who will bat from the left side versus Green.

Pedro Alvarez moves up to the second spot in the order.

Chris Davis is 2-for-3 with two home runs against Green. He's in the cleanup spot.

Update: Adam Jones is 2-for-2 in two innings, including an RBI single with two outs in the second to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead.

Update II: Jones scored on Pedro Alvarez's 20th home run to give the Orioles a 3-0 lead in the second inning. The Orioles have six players with 20 or more home runs for the first time since 1996. And Green walks off the field with the Yankees' athletic trainer after walking Manny Machado.
