Davis leaves game with oblique injury (O's lose 5-0)

Orioles first baseman Chris Davis was removed from tonight's game against the Royals after the bottom of the fourth injury with a strained left oblique. He will be further evaluated. Manager Buck Showalter told reporters in Toronto that Davis was bothered by some tightness in his hips, though he remained in the lineup. Davis was grimacing tonight while batting in the bottom of the third inning. He struck out and flied out against Royals starter Yordano Ventura. Ryan Flaherty has replaced Davis at first base, with Jonathan Schoop moving from second to third and Steve Lombardozzi entering the game at second. Davis is batting .250 with two home runs and 13 RBIs. Showalter will provide more information following the game, including whether Davis could be headed to the disabled list. Ubaldo Jimenez has thrown 83 pitches in five innings and continues to trail 2-0. Update: Jimenez tied his season high with six innings, but he didn't retire a batter in the seventh and was charged with four runs. The last run scored on Omar Infante's single off T.J. McFarland. Jimenez allowed six hits, walked four, struck out three and threw a wild pitch. He threw 104 pitches, 61 for strikes. Jarrod Dyson's bunt single in the seventh following a walk by Alcides Escobar was the Royals' first hit since Escobar's leadoff single in the second. Jimenez retired 12 of 13 batters before walking Escobar in the seventh. Update II: Ventura blanked the Orioles on seven hits over eight innings, striking out eight, and the Orioles lost to the Royals 5-0 before 22,478 at Camden Yards. Greg Holland retired the Orioles in order in the ninth, as the Orioles were shut out for the second time this season. Nelson Cruz's RBI streak ends at seven games. The loss drops the Orioles to 11-11 this season. Davis is a much bigger loss.
